The new energy centre built by Clarke Energy at Penhesgyn Landfill Site has been officially opened and is now playing its part in the Regional In-Vessel Composting Facility and Landfill Gas Power Generation Plant. The centre was opened by Jane Davidson, Minister for Environment for the Welsh Assembly Government. Clarke Energy has a well-proven record in landfill gas power generation, having installed over 400MW across the UK. As market leaders in landfill gas power generation Clarke Energy has extensive installation and operation experience, unrivalled in the UK. The purpose designed compound built by Clarke Energy homes a GE Jenbacher 1MW JGC 320 GS-L.L gas engine and a gas flare.
By utilising the abundance of methane gas produced at the site, the engine will produce enough megawatts of electricity to power more than 600 homes in Anglesey. With its excellent reputation to ensure maximum availability of the engine, Clarke Energy will also provide maintenance on the site.
