His Royal Highness The Price of Wales has visited Biogen’s GwyriAD anaerobic digestion plant in Wales. The site is located in at Llwyn Isaf near Caernafon and has been developed by Biogen with funding from Iona Capital. Prince Charles visited the facility on the 2nd of July.
The facility produces biogas, a renewable fuel, which is used in a combined heat and power engine facility that is engineered and installed by Clarke Energy. The facility incorporates one of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines that is able to produce 0.499MW of renewable electricity, enough to power 1,200 homes with consistent base-load power.
Clarke Energy has now supplied 7 engines to Biogen including Westwood, Twinwoods and Harper Adams College University digester.
