Clarke Energy Wins With Pink Power

Clarke Energy achieved ‘Sustainable Project of The Year’ at the 2016 Builder and Engineer Awards with the Barts NHS Trust Pink Power Project.

The Builder and Engineer awards is one of the largest and most established awards programmes in the sector – providing the ideal platform to recognise the best products, projects, companies and individuals.

The project itself involved Clarke Energy, GE’s authorised distributor of Jenbacher gas engines in the UK, supplying one of GE’s Ecomagination qualified 1.4-megawatt (MW) Jenbacher gas engines to provide reliable electricity and heat to the combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) energy centre, Clarke Energy also supplied a 250-kilowatt absorption chiller, which delivers needed cooling water for the hospital and balance of plant equipment.

The on-site trigeneration project at Europe’s oldest hospital is the first of its kind. Barts Health NHS Trust, through Skanska—one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups—selected Clarke Energy to install the new energy system. This was funded by Sustainable Development Capital LLP (SDCL) whose initiative is part of SDCL’s “Powering Health” collaboration to deliver lower-carbon, fully funded CCHP solutions to NHS Trusts, including those that are part of a private finance initiative (PFI) structure.

Being awarded a project win is a great beginning. Receiving an award for the quality of the completed project is a rewarding conclusion for us and our partners we worked with. Clarke Energy and SDCL are honoured that our work and company are repeatedly recognised by the engineering and building industry and organisations across so many disciplines, from local chapters to international associations. It is through the unwavering passion of our talented staff to exceed expectations that Clarke Energy and SDCL was able to provide award-winning service to our clients.
