Clarke Energy has contracted with PWR Hybrid to deliver INNIO Group’s Jenbacher Type-6 gas engines, for a reliable and efficient power solution at Ramelius Resources’ Mt Magnet Gold Mine in Western Australia.
The addition of two J620 generators expands the current fleet of 90 Jenbacher Type-6 engines in Western Australia to a total capacity exceeding 320MW.
Under a 15-year power purchase agreement with Mt Magnet Gold Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Ramelius Resources, PWR Hybrid will design and deliver a 32MW hybrid power station. The station will feature 14MW of gas generation, powered by a mix of Clarke Energy’s high-efficiency Jenbacher J616 and J620 engines. The project also includes 3MW of diesel generation, 6.7MWp of solar PV, and an 8MW/10MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Clarke Energy has proven and established Jenbacher reliability in remote power applications where stable power supply is critical for above and below mining operations. The Jenbacher type 6 engines are renowned for their high-power density, robust design, and maximum efficiency with low emissions, making them a perfect fit for PWR Hybrid’s renewable-first approach.

The hybrid setup will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Mt Magnet Gold Mine by approximately 4,407 tCO2e per year, aligning with Ramelius Resources’ decarbonisation goals and commitment to sustainability.
