En anglais: Israq Cotton Mills Captive Power Plant, Bangladesh

Israq Cotton Mills Limited (ICML) is a ring spinning unit with 102,000 spindles. ICML is part of the Ahmed Group, a leading name in the textile industry of Bangladesh. Ahmed Group started their journey in 1995 as a garment manufacturer with Lufa Fashion Ltd. The group has now five other entities under its umbrella namely; Israq Cotton Mills, Israq Spinning Mills, Sajib Fashion Wear, Israq Rotor Spinning Mills and, Israq Textile Mills.

Clarke Energy in Bangladesh secured the contract with ICML to design, supply and render installation support prior to carrying out commissioning activity of eight 1415kWe natural gas gensets at the textile mill. Following the initial order for 3 x  Jenbacher J420, Clarke Energy secured the remaining orders based on the augmentation plans of the company and also as part of the replacement project.

In addition to the positive spark spread, the Ahmed Group’s philosophy to implement innovative technologies helped them select Jenbacher engines, which are specifically developed for gas application. The Jenbacher J420 gas engines offer low fuel consumption, low oil consumption, enhanced control systems, and higher efficiency and power output advantages.

The natural gas based captive power plant at ICML has resulted in cost savings, reduced CO2 emissions, resiliency from grid disturbance and takes advantage of lower priced natural gas for generating quality power required for the ring spinning unit.

Clarke Energy’s significant experience, expertise, project management skills and unmatched commitment towards after-sales-service has led to the Ahmed Group installing six further Jenbacher engines at two other textile plants operated by the group.
