SELECTED BIOGAS FARSALA S.A. is constructing one of the bigest biogas power plants in Europe. The plant is next to SELECTED TEXTILES SA, which is the bigest textile factory of the area. The total installed electric power of the plant is 6 MW. The construction of the plant is scheduled to finish by the end of 2016. The four cogeneraton units, Jenbacher JMC 420 GS-B.LC v.B25, were installed in October 2016 and will be commissioned in 2017.
The four containerised CHP units will be fueled with biogas produced from anaerobic digestion process. The produced thermal energy will be used for heating the digesters and producing steam, while the electric power will be sold to the Public Power Corporation. The produced steam will be used in the textile factory.
