This International Women’s Day, Clarke Energy is celebrating its brilliant female team members in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Over the last two decades, more talented women have joined the industry, and today we are taking the time to celebrate them. Here at Clarke Energy, we believe it is essential to include all people from different backgrounds, embracing diversity, promoting inclusion and creating an innovative and dynamic team.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is Embrace Equity. Equity can be defined as giving everyone what they need to succeed, recognising that each person has different circumstances, and allocating the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
This International Women’s Day, we’re spotlighting one of the key females in our organisation, Anna Yablonksa. Anna is a Senior Control System Engineer based in our Adelaide headquarters and integral to our growing Clarke Energy team.
Anna moved from Ukraine to Australia in 2011, joining the Clarke Energy team in 2012 as an Electrical Design Draftsperson. “It was the most suitable and attractive position for me as it was tough to get an engineering position at that time. I felt that there was an opportunity to grow at Clarke Energy, and I was right”. Anna has been with Clarke Energy for over 11 years, and during that time, she has used her strong skillset, passion, and knowledge to grow within the Clarke Energy family as a Senior Engineer.
Anna has been part of some key and exciting projects during her time at Clarke Energy, her favourites include;
- Tennant Creek Power Station Upgrade, the installation of three high-efficiency, low-emission 2MW gas-fired engines and one 1.5MW diesel engine to reduce emissions by an estimated 20 percent.
- Werribee Power Station B, a performance-based EPC project utilising Jenbacher Gas Generators
- Newman Power Station 2, an EPC project for a new gas fired power generation facility comprising of 14 gas engines to improve the efficiency and flexibility of the station
These projects were named as some of her favourites due to the challenges she solved, the teamwork involved and what she learned and achieved from these projects.
Since starting at Clarke Energy, Anna has never stopped learning and developing her skills. Within the last 10 years, she has received the following qualifications:
- Diploma of Project Management
- CitectSCADA Configuration Training
- Industrial Network Professional Training
- Logix Designer Level 4 Training
Anna’s passion is teamwork, she believes,
“Teamwork is key in my position, and I enjoy working with people. Diversity of views, knowledge, culture and skills provide an opportunity to learn from each other and share our knowledge”. Passionate about problem-solving, Anna embraces the challenges she faces as an engineer and always finds that she can learn something new during the process. As a female in her field, she has previously been met with challenges, but meets them with a great attitude, noting “I have learned a lot, it does not matter what gender or nationality the person is, I believe that everyone is valuable in my life, bringing good things, support and useful lessons to me.”
