In the textile industry, energy costs and environmental concerns are significant challenges. Sartex, an industrial group specialising in the manufacture of jeans, opted for a cogeneration solution to meet the challenges of rising energy costs and environmental pressures. Sartex chose Clarke Energy to design, supply and install its CHP plant to solve these problems efficiently. This installation is composed of an INNIO Jenbacher type J612 gas engine, producing an electrical power of 2.0 MWe and a thermal power of 2.0 MWth.
1 – Power generation:
The cogeneration plant operates continuously, providing a stable power supply of 2.0 MWe to power the machinery and lighting of the textile plant, thus significantly reducing dependence on the power grid.
2 – Thermal energy for processes:
The thermal energy produced by the 1.1 MWth gas engine is used for the washing and drying process of jeans, ensuring optimal operating conditions and reducing the need for additional thermal energy.
3 – Steam for dyeing and finishing:
The factory’s ability to produce 1.3 t/h of steam at 9 bar is crucial for the textile industry, especially for the washing and finishing processes. This ensures efficient production while maintaining product quality.
4 – Reduced carbon emissions:
By producing both electricity and thermal energy on site, the combined heat and power plant reduces the company’s dependence on fossil fuels and reduces carbon emissions by 3.4 tons annually.
5 – A reliable long-term partnership:
Clarke Energy has taken care of the entire process, from purchase to installation, including ongoing maintenance through long-term maintenance contracts. With its turnkey cogeneration solutions, Clarke Energy will support Sartex in delivering on its commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency and market competitiveness. This energy efficiency solution is a perfect example of the ability of cogeneration technology to transform energy management in the textile industry.
