Hot and tropical counties can pose challenges for the operation of the generator. If the generator and combined heat and power plant exceeds certain temperature limits de-rating will occur, adequate ventilation and cooling is therefore essential.
In order to overcome the challenge of high ambient temperatures the generator enclosure or container must be correctly engineered to ensure that the generator is able to be kept at an optimal temperature. In addition to incorporation of enhanced ventilation systems different types of lubricating oils may also be required.
Through Clarke Energy’s significant experience of operating generators in these environments we have developed a modular high ambient temperature enclosure which has been particularly successful in the coal mine gas industry, but which can be applied to other environments.
There are also other Jenbacher container solutions which are configured to operate at higher temperatures.
